Biography
What started with a little contest has now become an infrequent pastime ... song writing and recording! Back in the fall of 2002, KWJJ 99.5 FM (The Wolf) held a challenge looking for the best listener written jingle; a half dozen or so cheesy tunes were submitted by yours truly. I didn't win the trip to Vegas to see Keith Urban perform (Outlaw Doug James was the lucky one), but the experience did lead to some airplay and opportunities to perform live (the Mike & Amy Hometown Holiday Shows; 2002 with Tanya Tucker and 2003 with JoDee Messina). Every few weeks, or so, a new tune is recorded and is often respectable enough to be broadcast. A little Weird Al Yankovich, a dash of Cledus T. Judd and a pinch of Soggy Bottom Boys, all mixed together, would be a good description of this music. My creed is "there's a song for every occasion ... and if there isn't, I'll just write one." As the musical talent here is a bit thin (to go with the graying middle-aged hair), a little software enhancement has been added to these poorly recorded songs (done on the family room PC) to give a bit more professional sound, but this material is still just shy of "The Gong Show" quality, so suggestions are welcomed and encouraged. Thanks to Mike Chase, Amy Faust, Iain Gordon (producer), and the rest of the "The Wolf" pack, and their listeners, for puting up with this "swill" ... keep the requests coming!
