With the emergence of Dancehall Reggae as a force to be reckoned with in the music industry today, one group stands at the threshold of this phenomenon, TONIX.
TONIX is rapidly becoming a favorite of both underground Hip Hop and Dancehall DJ's for their impressive production and melodic flow. Gearing their music towards the club scene has provided TONIX with a well needed and loyal fan base. Their hard edge approach and visual presence on stage provides the audience with a deserving display of liveliness. TONIX consists of GENERAL, WONDER and BURGLA, two deejays (MC's) and a Sound Selector (DJ) a combination that is both simple and effective. Formed in the summer of 2000 they would soon begin to release 12" vinyl singles on independent label Cold River Records. In 2001 the trio saw the release of 3 (12") vinyl singles, starting with the winter release of "Give Dem Something" a blend of fast style rap and boastful lyrics.
6 months later the release of the two track 12" single "Do What You Like" a Dancehall party tune and the Hip Hop/Reggae thriller "Shockin." Keeping true to their street credentials, 2002 saw the release of the (limited) 12" Dub Plate "They Should Know" made exclusively for Dancehall Sound Systems in Jamaica, London and New York City. Delivering the goods as promised is the self-titled "TONIX", an 8 track (EP) of edgy, creative and soulful Dancehall Reggae tunes for a worldwide audience. With a matchless work ethic and professionalism TONIX is well on the way to making their mark on the music scene. "Give' em room!!"
